Mid-Autumn Festival!!!
In Chinese culture, a full moon is a symbol of peace and prosperity. This holiday is also called the Harvest Festival as most farmers have just finished gathering their crops! The Chinese people typically eat round Mooncakes and other round fruit to help celebrate the full moon.
We just got these new shirts to show our logo!
We all were so happy to be able to go to the Special Needs school here in Pingyu to pass out some treats to the children. The school does a fantastic job helping these children…they even send teachers out to help children who cannot physically get to the school. We hope to help them more and more in our future.
We started off by asking the children to teach us how to sign the words, “I Love You.” We then showed them some of the arm movements to the song, “Skidamarink.”
We asked the children how high and how wide the moon is. We then told them that we love them even that much more.
We are looking forward to seeing how we can continue helping this school and these wonderful children. We are looking into taking American and Chinese sign language lessons. Some of the children asked if we could teach them American sign language as they want to learn a foreign language too!
PINGYU HOME OF HOPE
We went to go play with the kids at the Home of Hope…though it’s not called the Home of Hope anymore. We brought 100 moon-cakes, 50 apples and 150 dates to help celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival. We played several games and just hung out all afternoon. These children are so dear to our hearts and we love them so much.
Over all, it was a great Mid-Autumn holiday. We truly enjoyed the time we got to spend with all these beautiful children and with our friends.
