Physical Education

Becca trying to pull Ben by her self.

Physical Education is one of the things we hope to impart on the children in our program. We teach them how important team work is and that each individual is needed to work hard for the team to succeed. This exercise was to prove just that point.

Becca and Aaron are twins, but still could not move Ben.
All the kids working together moved Ben over 20 meters!!!

Over the years, we have taught many children how to do several different kinds of athletic activities such as; swimming, dancing, yoga, roller blading, cycling, running, basketball, baseball, volleyball, badminton, pingpong (though they taught us more than we taught them:}), American football, soccer, frisbee, hockey, weight training and everyones personal favorite…dodgeball!

We have a membership at a local gym that allows us to bring age appropriate children to help them have healthy, strong bodies…it even comes with tires and a peg wall to play/work out on!!! We also donated equipment to the orphanage to help train and prepare the younger children who are not old enough to join us at the gym.

We took several of the children out to the nearby park to play soccer and run the track. The children’s primary school P.E. teacher was there and saw the kids playing and came over to see what school they went to. He did not know that the children had just switched to his school. He had big smiles and asked a couple of the boys to join the track and soccer teams.

Aaron and Chris teaming up against the other team to get the ball!

Aaron (#7) and Chris (#10) played on the red soccer team and did pretty well as this was the primary school’s first year to compete. They won 5 of the 7 games and out of 20 teams they made 4th place. Chris played fullback and Aaron played center, scoring most goals in each game.

Aaron scoring his first of many goals!

Unfortunately we did not make it to the track meet, but Aaron and Sammy ran in the track meet. Aaron won 1st and Sammy won 3rd place. Aaron is a 6th grader and beat out 8th graders in another race.

We hope these athletic abilities the children are learning will help him with their future. To understand that hard work is rewarding and how to play/work well with others. To have honor and respect.
